Lost in Translation

One of the Chinese government's big pushes during the past year was to eliminate what is known as "Chinglish" - which is the mangling of English that occurs when Chinese characters and sentences that appear on signs are translated into English. Its a famous and admittedly funny aspect to life in China as a foreigner. Even though the government tried to have perfect and sensical English on every sign- since the Chinese language is so different from English in grammatical structure(no plurals - for example) - some "chinglish" still remains.
